@newsnationnow: “If someone were to ask what do you think the post-active-shooter scene would be like, I wouldn't have predicted silence": Jeff Eager, a former mayor of Bend, Oregon, described the scene of a deadly shooting at a neighborhood elementary school as eerily silent.
The questions omg,I'd be petrified, in shock, devastated, just wanting to see my babies and hopeing for other parents

PUT OUR NATIONAL GUARD TO WORK PROTECTING OUR SCHOOLS.
I believe we should have a minimum of two National Guard members stationed at every school in America. Our children deserve to learn in a safe environment without parents having to fear whether their kids will make it home at the end of the day.
We station military personnel to protect our nation from threats. Why shouldn't protecting our children from the violence threatening our schools be part of that mission?
There should be no shortage of qualified personnel, training, or funding when it comes to protecting the lives of our children. If we don't have enough Guard members to cover every school, then recruit and train more. If it costs money, fund it. What price can we put on a child's life?
Our schools have become targets of horrific violence, and we cannot continue to accept this as normal. Our children are our future, and protecting them should be one of our nation's highest priorities.
The National Guard's mission is to serve and protect our nation. That mission should include protecting the children who represent its future.
Two Guard members per school. Every school. Every day. No excuses. Our children's safety must come first.
