But when I get 20% off an item at a store it takes off like 50 cents

As a server here ppl who have a problem with tipping always confuse me because anything is enough but nothing is insane same type of ppl who walk by homeless ppl when they are in need because they have “nice” items on or near them. Be kind to others and these things will find a way back to you money will always come back but truly helping someone will only come once in a while. God bless🙏🏾

Tipping used to be like 10-15% now it’s 20%. Tip is based on service not how much I spend

Listen. 20% is double the first number and if the second number is above 5 add $1. For example, 48.72, double 4 is 8 and the second number is 8/9

Let’s normalize the employer paying their salary and not us contributing to it or we should get tax deductions

If you go to a restaurant, and you are sitting down and being served. Yes, you get to decide the tip, but did you know that in most restaurants, if you under tip or tip nothing that server has to come out-of-pocket to tip the rest of the restaurant. At the end of the night, each server has to do tip out, which is bus boys bartenders, other parts of the staff. If they got zero dollars on a table, it doesn’t matter. They still have to tip out on that table. So they actually lose money. And don’t come at me and say well they chose that job. A lot of people choose that job because it works for their schedule. And we have to have servers. Just be a good human if you can afford to go out to eat, you can tip. A standard tip is 15% great service is 20%. If something’s wrong with the kiosk, it’s a computer, something can happen. Just get the server. Let them know. Quit acting like it’s some grand conspiracy.

Tipping culture is out of control, we need to start pushing back on companies to pay their workers living wages!!! They're not supposed to include drinks in the total either but they do.

It says “before discount.” So, if you got something free, then the tip is calculated as if you didn’t get it free.

Simple quick math for 20%, whatever the amount is move the decimal to the left one position that’’s 10% then double the results if you want 20%. So $48.00 would be $4.80 or 10% then I double the results which is $9.60 which is 20%, then I usally round up in this case $10.00 ! Yes I know I didn’t include the change but you get the method.

They add the tax into the percentage. Which tax should not be included, should only be the check amount before taxes.
