It kinda depends on the character in my opinion. If the theme of the story is about love and redemption then redeeming said character makes sense. If not, then they could go the other way where they turned out worse or they die. Additionally, the decision to redeem said character should make sense for who they are personally. If they're someone who constantly thinks about their morals then they'll agonize on the unforgivable thing they did. . . But that's just my thoughts! I hope this helps you in some way 💙💙💙
