How do you get the manufacturing jobs? Like I get buying the machines but how to get the jobs?

my hypothesis is that AI will allow civillization will become more cellullarized. Communities will start producing things for themselves as opposed to relying on economies of scale. Ie, everyone will be making things, and you'll buy stuff from your neighbors. I hope hydroponics gets really good and takes off

I’d like to see AI replace the killer small talk I open team meetings with as we give everyone a few minutes to call in

I've been training Claude to do my Construction Management job and soon it will be mostly automatic. I already have time to do hobbies but I'd like to turn that time into gigs. What would you recommend to purchase as a first machine? CNC?

Or do what i am doing. I am now considered logistics. I have taught claude how to draw structural steel plans using my borders, my blocks, etc. I still have to tweak them, but we can get rid of 5 people and keep an extra 500k a year. I will however highlight that I started doing manual labor at the age of 9 and have never stopped working.

as someone in management in manufacturing with a deep computer science and software engineering background, j can assure you that AI not capable of doing what we do. in the last month, it has made a transpositional error in some trigonometry that we use to program our CNC machines that would have burned about $30k if it wasn't caught by a human. before that, it told me it couldn't convert between liters and gallons. it's definitely not going to know how to handle the garbage that we see engineers do on drawings. like, how is it going to quote a 6 part finishing operation with partial mid-process masking and keensert installation costs. it can't even identify tooling and suppliers needed to make a part when you throw a model at it or plan a multi-stage turn/mill/hobb/edm manufacturing plan for a simple part. it's not even close.
