I sincerely don’t understand the cheeseburger scene. Mostly because I never saw the movie

Cooking as a job is just a job. Cooking outside the money to receive means you're doing it for someone. You're making a meal for someone you WANT to make a meal for. That scene wasn't "make me food" that scene was "can you care about me?" and he said yes. I can.

Agreed. And this isn’t to say The Menu is some top tier or high brow movie. It def has low points but it is the bare minimum. If you can’t get what it’s trying to say, you’re a lost cause.

The way I feel too deeply watching movies. I cried watching it the first time, because he was finally happy cooking again after so long, she helped him feel that passion even for a moment before he died, his staff were able to see him actually enjoy their profession probably for the first time ever since working there. I love this movie lol

People think that about the burger scene? They literally showed WHY she chose a burger earlier! 😭 It was fucking genius!

THE ONLY PICTURE HE WAS SMILING IN WAS WHEN HE WORKED AT HAMBURGER HOWIES, MAKING FOOD FOR ACTUAL PEOPLE

If you ever worked in food service, you can't watch it the same way as someone who hasn't worked in food service. It would be an emotional disconnect.

it took me a second but ohmygod🥲 he missed having joy in cooking. the rich ruined his life and his joy so he finally snowed and some poor nobody had finally given him the joy in cooking again. The fact it was a simple food is the point..bc its the simple things in life..(at least thats how ive seen it)

I wouldn't expect this particular restaurant to have sliced American cheese on hand though

No one will understand the movie as deeply as a food hospitality worker. My boyfriend and I (chef and pastry chef) at the end of the movie were like “yeah thats pretty much how it feels to work in culinary”

I deeply understand the menu because I too cannot do what I love as a profession without getting to the point of not only hating people but wanting to end them 🤣 that’s my quick explanation of it

I had a coworker who I introduced the frieren anime to since I was genuinely moved so much since chapter 1 alone. A week later I asked him what he thought of it and he said he was so bored until the mage exam then he thought it was lit. I don't really talk to him anymore.
