Oregon Law does allow those with a concealed handgun license to carry concealed concealed on school property. Senate Bill 554 allows each school district to ban licensed concealed carry on their specific school property. 44 of the 197 school districts in Oregon do exercise this option. Most of which are in the Portland area. Bend-Lapine school districts are one of the few that do prohibit conceal carry on school property. If the anti 2A crowd are true to their word, they would charge the hero for a class c felony How fortunate that an individual hero put aside the fear of committing a class C felony to save lives.

The only reason that there’s not more fatalities is because of concealed carry. This is my town and it breaks my heart that this shit happened here. I am so grateful that my child goes to a private school, but my heart hurts for these families.

We could wait until more is known about this tragedy before concluding that the decisive factor was a school district ban on conceal/carry. You could read Peterson, Densley and Erickson’s February 2021 study on this subject, published in JAMA.
