Let's call hotel and 3 man, they lost 30 dollar, instead of 25 dollar, the hotel gave back the 5 dollar to meet the exact payment, but the hotel gave them 1 dollar each, so therefore they think they paid 9 dollar each = 27, and they have 3 dollar, the mistake is why add what the 3 man lost and what the hotel took which is 2 dollar, the hotel have total of 27 the 25 was on reservation and the 2 are on the guy equals to 27 then plus the 3 man's money left which 3, so there fore 27 + 3 = 30

it's not 27+2, it's 27-2 = 25 (they overpaid by 5 and they all received 1 dollar and the guy took 2 so it's supposed to be 30-3 = 27-2 = 25 (their fee)

30 total amount of payment - 25 exact amount of payment divide the 25 into 3 = 8.33 so each person gives 8.33+1 that the waiter return to each one of them, total of 9.33 then multiply it with 3 = 27.99 plus the 2 dollars that the waiter kept, then we have the total of 29.99 or 30dollars, you think that there's a missing dollar, but you just need to divide the 25 to 3 and we will have 8 with the remainder of one, the 1 missing you think is also part of the payment

I think if 3 men paid 9 Dollars each then total will be 27 Dollars if hotel room is 25 Dollars Then that extra 2 dollars is what waiter is keeping. Like if hotel gives back 5 Dollars back and waiter actually returns 3 Dollars each back you need to substrat 3 Dollars from 30 So 27 Dollars right? At first it is confusing because the question is made itself to be confused!!

this is the trick the 2 person paid $8 and the one paid $9, why? each person have $10 dollar for rent but the rent only cost $25 so the staff return the $5 they can't split the $5 so they decided to give the staff the remaining $2 so each of them have $9 dollar for rent but don't forget the $2 they gave to the staff so it means the two of them minus a $1 each so they are 2 person paid $8 and the one is $9, 8x2+9=25😎, JUST IMAGINE IF THEY DON'T GIVE THE $2 TO THE STAFF AND TWO OF THEM RECEIVED $2 AND THE ONE ONLY HAVE $1 SO IT MEANS THE ONE PAID $9 AND THE TWO PAID $8, GETS?

There is no missing $1, it only seems like to be missing because the problem adds the wrong numbers together. Each guests ended up paying $9, so 9 x 3 = $27 is what they actually paid after the $3 was returned. That $27 already includes the $2 that went to the bellhop, because the room's original price was $25 (25 + 2 = 27). So you shouldn't add the $2 to the $27, since it's already inside it, and doing so only double counts. The correct one is $25 for the hotel plus $2 for the bellhop equals $27, and when you add the $3 that was returned, you get back the original $30. The trick was the explanation was wrong. it should be like this: 30-5 = 25(Hotel Price) 5(Hotel Refund)-2(Bellhop Tip) = 3(Returned Money) 30-3(Returned Money) = 27 9x3 = 27(Bellhop Tip + Hotel Price) 27+3(Returned Money) = 30 The Main Idea is you don't need to add the $2 to the $27 that was computed from 9x3 = $27
