@ericcrackschina: The 18-Month Death Sentence: How China is Destroying Legacy Automakers 🇨🇳🚗 Legacy automakers like Ford and Volkswagen try to blame their declining global market share on unfair subsidies and cheap labor. As a global supply chain expert, I expose the brutal reality: they are actually losing a war of industrial physics. In this video, I break down "The 18-Month Death Sentence." We explore how traditional Western automakers are paralyzed by a rigid 4-5 year R&D cycle, launching vehicles with technology that is already obsolete. Discover how Chinese EV manufacturers are treating cars like consumer electronics on wheels, utilizing extreme supply chain modularization to compress development down to an astonishing 18 months. Learn why tariffs and protectionist policies cannot save a fundamentally slower iteration cycle, and why hardware founders must learn to iterate at the speed of software to survive. #EricOnChina #EricSourcing #EV #SupplyChain #GlobalTrade #SourcingExpert #SourcingAgent #ChinaSourcing #SourcingChina #SourcingTips #BuyerInsights #GlobalBusiness #Manufacturing #ChinaBusiness #BusinessInsights
If any company makes cars like smartphone, stay away. Nobody is going to keep spare parts for a car model that changes every year or two. No 3rd party spare parts manufacturer would not be interested in making parts. quick model changes are a nightmare for customers.

the current infatuation with cars as mobile technology will last no more than 5 years. cars are supposed to do car stuff which is move, move really fast. car ethos has been sidelined only temporarily. when this current wave of EVs with all their technology and gadgets dies 5 years from now it is the legacy automakers offerings that will stand and the car car will be back.

It’s good that the auto industry is experience an earthquake. China is doing a good job pressing prices lower. Me as a consumer care about price/performance ratio. After a few years this storm will settleand markets will saturate. Its cyclical :)

The Chinese government ensures that the cost of basics: food, energy, transport, education are kept low and out of privatization. This low cost base plays a big part in keeping production costs low in China and not because of government subsidies.
