IanTrouble :
First and foremost, my heart is filled with sorrow for the victims of this terrible tragedy, especially the little angels whose time in this world was cut so tragically short and in such a cruel and violent manner. May the Lord bless and comfort their families, loved ones, and everyone affected by this unimaginable loss. 🙏🏼🥺
It is also impossible to overlook the elephant in the room and not acknowledge that many school shootings have been perpetrated by adolescent or young adult white males. I mention this not to place collective blame on any group, but because I believe there needs to be a deeper and more meaningful discussion about the factors that may be contributing to these tragedies and what can be done within families, schools, and communities to recognize warning signs and intervene before violence occurs.
Every community has its own issues and challenges that need to be addressed, and no group should be condemned for the actions of individuals. Recognizing patterns should be about prevention, not condemnation. If certain patterns exist, we should be willing to examine them thoughtfully and ask what we can learn from them.
Ultimately, we all need to do better at recognizing when people are struggling, taking serious warning signs seriously, providing appropriate intervention, and doing everything reasonably possible to prevent these horrific tragedies before they happen.
