I was coming-of-age during the original Miami Vice TV series. And we all know that was the greatest cop TV series ever. It re-wrote the book on the cop genre. I had high hopes for the 2006 remake which totally missed the boat, and this clip nailed the failures. That being said, I have a feeling that this latest reboot with two fine actors who I believe were reasonably cast, Michael, B, Jordan and Austin Butler, is going to miss the Mark as well. The original TV series had three silent stars; the city of Miami, the partner’s wardrobes, and the music. When watching this clip, I noticed three glaring failures already. First of all, what is Michael B Jordan doing in a black leather jacket in a movie that set in Miami? Makes no sense. Secondly I’m not sure what Gun that is that Austin Butler is packing, but it does not appear to be Sunny Crockett original Smith & Wesson 4506 that he carried during season one and two I believe. Thirdly, in the clip, Sonny is not wearing pastel colors like he did in the series Which makes me question the third silent character; are they gonna get even the music right? Again, I wanna have high hopes, I want to enjoy this movie, but I have a feeling that somehow they’re not gonna learn from the past mistakes and make the same blunders that they did in 2026, if not more.
