ROWDY IS NOW RESCUE ONLY AND NEEDS A HOSPICE HOME 😢💔 She must have a rescue tag by Friday 10/23 at 4:30 pm 💔 Meet Rowdy, a spayed female American Bulldog mix whose future has become heartbreakingly uncertain. During her spay surgery, veterinary staff discovered a mass suspected to be cancerous. Unfortunately, they do not believe they were able to obtain clean surgical margins, leaving concern that abnormal tissue may remain. Rowdy is now designated RESCUE ONLY and considered a hospice case. ⭐️ What We Know About Rowdy ⭐️ Rowdy is experiencing significant stress and heightened arousal in the shelter environment. During a brief behavioral assessment, she tolerated a handler placing a muzzle on her, although she was uncomfortable wearing it and occasionally tried to remove it. During introductions with two friendly adult dogs, Rowdy initially exchanged greetings and sniffed appropriately. However, she became increasingly aroused and pushy when approaching dogs who were lying down or on their backs. After her muzzle slipped off, she showed increased arousal and occasionally attempted to lunge toward nearby dogs. Handlers were able to interrupt and redirect some of these behaviors. This was a brief assessment in a highly stimulating shelter setting, and her behavior may differ in a home environment. ⭐️ What Rowdy Needs Now ⭐️ Rowdy’s medical prognosis remains uncertain, and she deserves appropriate veterinary follow-up, careful monitoring, and a thoughtful approach to her comfort and quality of life. She also needs someone who will look beyond her shelter stress, respect her behavioral needs, and give her the time and management necessary to settle into a new environment. We cannot promise how much time Rowdy may have.
