Sheila Sison’s remark that the prosecution’s decision to withdraw three articles of impeachment could lead to one. During a press briefing on Thursday, Oct. 15, Castro explained that a mistrial occurs when a party is not given the opportunity to present its side. However, she pointed out that the defense team had ample time to cross-examine the witnesses presented by the prosecution. Castro also maintained that if the defense believed the withdrawal could lead to a mistrial, it could have objected but chose not to.
