This one has been sitting VERY heavily with me. After hearing the conversation around TPO and the suggestion that smaller, independent salons are somehow more likely to be unsafe, I honestly couldn’t stay quiet. I work from a small garden salon. I’m not a huge high-street business. But I am a professional. I invest in my education. I research my products. I keep up with industry changes. I invest in professional equipment. I care about hygiene. I care about nail health. And I care about every single person who sits at my desk. And I know I’m not the only one. There are SO many incredible nail technicians working from home, garden studios and small independent salons who take their responsibilities incredibly seriously. So please don’t assume small = unsafe and big = safe. Neither tells you anything about the standards of the person actually doing your nails. Ask questions. Look at their training. Ask what products they use. Ask about their lamp and curing system. Ask how they prevent skin contact. Ask how they keep up with regulations. A professional nail tech should be happy to explain. The TPO changes are important — but they are also exactly why education and accurate information matter. The current Great Britain rules concern TPO-containing cosmetic products, not a blanket ban on gel manicures or BIAB. So to all the small independent nail techs out there: I see you. 💗 Keep learning. Keep investing. Keep raising your standards. And to my clients: Please ask questions. I’m never going to be offended. Because I’m not here to scare you. I’m here to educate you.
