@ebsillyme123: Meet Toby! He's a 3 year old happy, adventurous pup with a love of life. This handsome boy gets excited about the simple things, whether that's interacting with people, zooming around the yard, heading out for a walk or getting belly rubs. Toby is in a wonderful foster home, where he's shown he's potty trained and a gentle boy who enjoys affection from adults and kids, willingly soaking up all the pets and cuddles. He's the perfect boy when it comes to handling, happy to flop onto his back while you brush him, and isn't bothered if you need to touch his paws, ears or teeth. He isn't bothered if you need to take away a toy or food, happily giving it to you in exchange for some pets or a treat. Toby rides amazingly in the car, just snoozing for the ride, and could definitely join a home where road trips are a regular occurrence. He also loves to play fetch (read: he loves to chase the ball, he's still learning to bring it back!). Provided he's had enough exercise, he can be left home alone for a few hours at a time without being destructive. Toby could happily live in a home with adults or as part of a family with kids. He's calm and mellow in the home 95% of the time, unless you really get him playful and riled up. When he's feeling playful, he can be a bit rambunctious, and may accidentally knock over very young kids. He means no harm at all, he can just be a little excitable on occasion. For dog-experienced parents (and kids), this is likely easily manageable. Toby is working on two things to become the best boy we know he can be: his demand barking, and his leash reactivity. He's making good progress on demand barking, where his foster ignores him until he offers an alternative behavior (like a "sit"), then he gets attention or a treat. With his leash reactivity, if he sees another dog, he can be redirected if far enough away, and with lots of practice, he will begin to look at his handler before reacting. He doesn't pull most of the time, but at 80lbs you'll need to be confident holding him steady past other dogs. He'd do best in a quieter area with fewer dog encounters, or with an experienced adopter happy to continue his training. For now, he should be the only dog in the home, though with slow introductions he may be able to enjoy doggy playdates in the future. Toby is looking for an active family or individual who loves spending time outdoors. If you're looking for a fun-loving adventure buddy and you're up for helping him polish his manners, Toby is your guy! #bordercollie mix #adoptdontshop #chasethesun #bigdog #cali
