YOU’RE STANDING ON AN OIL RIG, BUT HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHAT’S HIDING HUNDREDS OF METERS BENEATH YOUR FEET? 🌊😳 Here is what the ocean looks like beneath an offshore oil rig, and trust me, what you see above the water is only part of the story! Look over the side of the platform. All you can see is endless ocean. But underneath, depending on the type of installation, massive steel legs and support structures can extend deep into the water. And look at those fish! They’re not just swimming around randomly. Some offshore structures provide shelter and feeding areas for marine life, attracting schools of fish and other sea creatures. Around certain platforms, the underwater world can be surprisingly active. But the deeper you look, the darker the water gets. In some offshore locations, the seabed is hundreds of meters below the surface. From up here, you can’t even see where the ocean ends! And honestly, that’s one reason falling into the sea is so dangerous. Strong currents, waves, cold water, and the distance from immediate rescue can turn an emergency into a life-threatening situation. You might even spot larger marine animals passing through, depending on the location. The ocean around one platform can look completely different from another. But here’s the craziest part: you’re only seeing a fraction of the structure you’re standing on. The deck, cranes, and accommodation are visible above the water, but there can be an enormous underwater structure below you, supporting the installation. Sometimes, I look out at the ocean and remember just how small we are compared with what lies beneath it. Now tell me honestly: would you feel comfortable working above water this deep? Comment YES or NO below! Follow this page, comment “OFFSHORE,” and check the link in my bio for our step-by-step guide to getting started with your offshore career.
