This is a marketing stunt.
The technology is quite old.
Just nobody ever thought of bolting it on a car.
Because it's pointless

It’s a stunt car. Basically they gave it the engine of a golf cart and a battery that’s only good for 10 miles. That gets rid of the two heaviest components of a car. Because the only thing left is the frame, the car becomes light enough launch using compressed air that definitely won’t be street legal because of how dangerous they would be in a crash

Cars will NOT be doing that on public roads anytime soon, if ever. That was a demonstration to pump the stock and probably cost 50 million dollars.

Normally I like your takes (and I do love walkable cities) but this is a miss. The demo was insane and worthy of most of the hype it’s getting right now.

The amount of people who are genuinely convinced that something like that would be produced for the general public let alone get through regulatory standards is jarring. This guy couldn't give customers a conventional roadster, suddenly he's gonna give you a flying roadster.

It was a lightweight shell prop, likely driven by magnets in the stage-just like the newer Disney rides. The thrusters would never be approved for the road, let alone insured.

it's a gimmick and where are you even allowed to rocket flip your car without endangering other road users...the legal version of the car will not come with those gimmicks
