Here are five things that made me happy this last week: 1️⃣ SHASK aka Southern Hearts and Signed Kisses, authors Iesha Bree and Kimberly Brown’s Black romance book event in Columbia, SC. I highly recommend this two-day event when it returns in in 2028. The whole weekend was great—the road trip from DC, seeing my book friends and favorite authors, meeting followers in real life and having some Zaxby’s, Bojangle’s and Cook Out along the way. It’s a monthly analog night and Black woman-owned business pop-up at CIVIC. On Eighth in Capitol Hill. November’s B.Y.O.H. sold out in 78 minutes on announcement day! One of my friends treated me to a belated birthday dinner at Marcus DC this week. Just being able to yap and Kiki was so good for the soul. 4️⃣ My birthday trip. I travel every October as a gift to myself. I’m looking toward to traveling that’s not tied to books or content creation. Of course, I’ll share everything I see, do and eat! 5️⃣ My new wigs. It’s been a good 5-6 weeks with this $25 synthetic half wig, but it’s time for something new. One of these wigs is either going to be so good or having me look real crazy. 😂 #bookevent #southcarolina #vacationprep #dcevent #halfwig
