In 2019 I slipped on the ridge while hiking up Hausstock — slid down a few meters and stopped just a step away from the edge, the drop. Its crazy how fast things can go wrong in the mountains and how fast you start realizing all the mistakes you have done. We overestimated our skills and underestimated the terrain. I could have died that day and my friends could have been marked for rest of their lives. Luckily, I seem to have guardian angels above me. I stopped before the drop and my friends managed to help me back up. It was the most terrifying experience for all of us. The biggest of the wake up calls one can imagine. We all eventually took bunch mountaineering courses over years, learned how to climb, belay, rope, rescue and so on. Ever since that day, we’ve taken more precautions than probably needed on our adventures. And before anyone goes on and asks why we did it, what were we doing there, what were we thinking, why risking life.. yes, we were stupid back then by ‘taking it easy’, but we’ve paid the price and we learned. Unfortunately sometimes one learns the hard way, and so it was like this for us too. I was born for the second time that day. I think we all were. It was not necessary, we could have avoided this life threatening situation and still be grateful for life, but having experienced this, you dont take life for granted anymore. Im posting this just to show how fragile our lives can be sometimes. You think all it good and under control, until its not. I hope that some wanna be mountaineers will learn from our mistakes and be smarter and more secure than we were 🙏 #switzerland #swissalps #hikingadventures #outdoorslife #adrenaline @visitswitzerland @Switzerland
