@monicaaaleigh: I am in my feels tonight. We had a very stressful evening at the pumpkin patch. She wanted to stay doing the slides and jumping on the trampolines, we did that for a long time, and when the time came to call it a night she had the biggest meltdown… screaming, crying, throwing, hitting😔 to the point I could do anything. I had to have my husbands cousin pick her up so we could leave. She screamed and cried the whole time. I’m just in my feels tonight, I feel very defeated. I miss the times when I could take Lu places by myself😔 #autismmom #autismacceptance #MomsofTikTok #relatable
I’m so glad my autistic ass had the opportunity to have my most sensitive intimate and maybe even embarrassing moments in private because it was the 2000s w no social media

Im being so so respectful and nonjudgy when saying this so please don't think I'm attacking or being rude. I feel like if you continue to make your husband the default parent when it comes to meltdowns she'll pick up on that and continue that behavior because she knows she'll get her dad and slowly stop respecting your authority. I hope it gets easier for you and your whole family I can only imagine the stress you may feel 🫤

sorry this reached the wrong audience, i personally think its valid to feel sad about not being able to experience mundane things with your child due to their disability. its not like you said you dont love her.

You are her Mother. You are tough. You can handle her. Fear of judgement, pain of “missing out,” these are things that isolate autistic kiddos. Let people stare. Let her scream. Let them be uncomfortable. But do not let the world tell you that because it is hard, that because you are overwhelmed, that you are not capable of handling her on your own. You are. She is so young. Your energy is certainly one thing that girl can read. Don’t show her you’re scared of a little girl. Show that little girl that her Mom does it, scared, and show her you take your time to ensure you both are comfortably in your place in this world.

This is no hate, but I have noticed you talk to her like a baby still. I remember vividly from a very young age my parents still doing that to me and it always felt belittling and condescending. She can pick up on how you speak to others, your parents, your partner. I would really try to see her as her own human now and not just as “your baby”.

me as the kid, getting confused why I'm upset when I'm supposed to be happy, and feeling like I'm ruining it for everyone else while I can't help it😞

They praise you when you show the good moments but bring you down when you try to share the bad moments as well. You’re a good mom regardless and I hope you know she’s appreciates you and all your efforts. Sometimes things don’t go as planned and that’s okay there’s always another day and it won’t be your last visit to the pumpkin patch :)

I have literally been feeling like I can not handle my own child anymore. People probably look at me like I can’t get It together as a mom. I’m trying so hard

Hey stranger, hopefully this doesn’t come off bad or mean but I’m actually on the opposite end of your shoes, I’m a high support needs autistic woman who will always require the care of my parents or someone else to live. I used to have and still have horrible, out of my head meltdowns too, sometimes they were so severe it took multiple people to help with them and they’d go on for hours, but one thing I remember from that time is how hard my mom and dad worked to help me, even if sometimes they felt hopeless. something tells me that’s something that probably stands out to your daughter too even if she can’t properly express it, I’m sure all she knows is her mama is trying her best to help her through emotions that are nearly impossible to navigate. 💗

As someone who has autism and also has a child with autism. I stopped doing this. I realized how much pain I was putting my daughter through pain. I was putting me through just to be like everyone else. And yes, maybe she’ll have fun at the pumpkin patch or have fun going to the park or have fun going apple picky. But she’ll have her meltdowns. She’ll pull her hair out she’ll rip at her eyelids. She’ll be so regulated that the next three days she’s nonverbal. Am I willing to put her through that upset and angst just to get a cute photo? And why can’t I make a tiny little punky patch at the house? Make sure that she’s comfy and we could still get our pictures and we could still have our own fun, but she doesn’t have to be in pain and embarrassing herself outside. That’s what I see now I don’t push her to go out. I don’t push her to make friends or do all this shit because in the end it causes her pain.

These comments do not pass the vibe check at all. Your outfits are adorable. Autism is so hard. I see you. Please rest assured that your baby does too. Sending love. In our experience, the hardest seasons come before periods of progress or growth. Thank you for posting this. We are a community, we need each other.

Decorate the house, get her favorite snacks, put on your favorite Halloween movie from your childhood to show her and paint pumpkins or make them with clay instead.. way more fun and so much less pressure trust me it took me like 4 years to figure it out but it’s so much better
