Soup! Make a big pot of cabbage and veggie soup and eat as much as you want. 0 damage done. But if the point is to not focus on the food, get a game or craft to keep your hands and mind busy.

Just remember, this is exactly why you chose not to take a GLP-1 or completely give up convenience foods. You’re learning how to navigate real life in a way that works for you, and that’s amazing. Real life isn’t perfect, and relapsing is an expected part of recovery. It doesn’t mean you’ve failed; it means you’re human and still learning along the way. You’re building habits that you can actually live with long-term, at your own pace. Slow and steady, “mishaps” and all. Keep going! You’re doing great. ❤️

Maybe try to just allow yourself to have a small piece of whatever you’re craving. Setbacks happen. Like you said previously. Keep going do better the next time :)

I’m so sorry hear that you have gotten this devastating news. I chomp on ice or find sugar free candy to keep myself busy when I need comfort. Or I shop, buy stupid things I don’t need.

idk if this will help.. but im an alcoholic, sober for several years, but when i was most triggered to drink i would do exactly what you said at the end of this vid.. play the tape thru to the end.. as they say. and then i do something - anything! - with my hands. very hard to do in the moment!!! but its what worked best for me. very best of luck ❤️🥰🩷

If you did it to comfort yourself. Ask yourself after all that do you feel comforted? If not then work on another way to comfort yourself. Maybe go for a massage, a walk in nature, go for a drive music loud singing, try screaming. Have a good cry.

💕 Journal how you feel now after the binge….the physical discomfort, feelings, weight…. Refer back to the entry when the stress and urge starts to creep in.

Today I came to your comments to read everyone’s advice. You literally described me when describing yourself. I have never truely got a handle on comfort eating. But I was successful in weight loss regardless. My every day choices out weighed the emotional eating. But I would love to find a proper way to manage my emotions rather than eating them.

I find for myself, when you've been im a successful calorie deficit for a long period of time, every once and a while your body revolts and wants to eat everything as its slowly adjusting to a different level of food intake. I also find when im tired my body looks for "fast sugar" to keep me awake and moving. I try to take a pause and be mindful to go to bed early, really prioritize sleep, and make my first meal really really high in protein so I can be gross full but on protein so it makes it a lot harder to binge later in the day. also,im so sorry to hear about your cat, be kind to yourself

At 59 years old I have been in this situation more than once and what works best is compassion for yourself. What would you tell a friend in the same situation? One day doesn’t define you. You did the best you could do given the situation and next time you will do something different 🥰🥰

Yes! Remember the feeling. I literally have to ask myself “do I feel better or comforted now?” No I’m now uncomfortable, upset with myself and still sad. But try not to be upset with yourself. Lifelong habits are no joke. It was a bad day. We have to remember the feeling and then onward and upward.

I had to stop drinking because ✨ addiction✨ when I struggle emotionally and start to crave I start doing something productive and go over everything I have and get to do now that I don't drink anymore. also consider something tangible to symbolise every time you were successful at overcoming urges. like I have a jar of beads and that reminds me what it's possible I found a way to do it before, I can do it again. I hope this helps. you've been such an inspiration to me and I'm genuinely so impressed and proud of you. please keep going 💖

It’s ok to have days like that! What’s important though is that we don’t fall back into those bad habits! We pick ourselves up and remind ourselves that I’m a bad B and I can do this. As far as emotions and stuff go… I highly recommend journaling, going outside and getting fresh air… those are what I do to ground myself ❤️

Write it out - put it all into a journal. Sometimes it helps, because it puts time between the immediate reach for something. And sometimes it doesn’t. So we get up tomorrow and go again 👊

As someone who used food for comfort and who used to binge, I really used the moments that I felt so uncomfortable and icky from eating so much to remind myself that foods actually not a comfort but it makes me feel more uncomfortable after the fact. It took a few times but now I’ll tell myself that I love myself more than the food and the uncomfortable feeling it’ll give me and to only give into certain cravings if it’s a genuine craving and not an emotion. It’s different for everyone, and nobody’s perfect but that’s what helped me a lot when I wanted to use food to help with the bad days.

Honestly, I found in my weight loss that some days (when I was really sticking to my diet ) when I had a day where I ate more food, I found my body ended up losing a little bit more weight afterwards, interestingly enough.

When I feel like binging I try to talk to myself very matter of fact. Like “eating extra cookies right now isn’t going to make you feel better about your situation. It’s going to be okay, you’re going to be okay and you are full.” Maybe it sounds crazy but I try to talk to myself from an outside point of view. Helps me get out of my emotions and puts me back into reality. I allow myself time to work through my feelings and try to not get a dopamine hit from a binge. It’s all a mental battle and continuous effort. Lot easier said than done, I know, but just wanted to share what I do. You got this Alicia 💕
