This Meiji-era woodblock triptych depicts a dramatic scene from the historical kabuki play, presenting four figures across a continuous theatrical setting. Fierce expressions, exaggerated gestures, and elaborate costumes convey the intensity of the performance, while brilliant reds, patterned fabrics, and bold outlines heighten its visual impact. Created for an audience familiar with kabuki’s actors and stories, the print reflects the close relationship between popular theatre and ukiyo-e in late nineteenth-century Japan. 『鬼一法眼三略巻』は、梅堂豊斎が「香朝楼豊斎」の名で描き、1896年（明治29年）に制作された作品です。この明治時代の多色摺木版画三枚続は、時代物歌舞伎の劇的な一場面を描き、連続する舞台空間に四人の人物を配しています。鋭い表情や誇張された身振り、華麗な衣装が芝居の緊迫感を伝え、鮮やかな赤、精緻な衣装文様、力強い輪郭線が視覚的な迫力を高めています。歌舞伎役者や演目に親しむ人々に向けて制作された本作は、十九世紀末の日本における大衆演劇と浮世絵の密接な関係を物語っています。
