@homeswithhoward: 💡We’re back with your LA real estate market update for October 2026 — and inflation and interest rates are once again making headlines. The latest CPI report came in hotter than expected, with inflation climbing from 3.4% to 3.7%. That puts more pressure on the Federal Reserve to potentially raise interest rates again. Currently, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rates are currently hovering around the 7.33% range. Looking locally here in LA, new listings, active listings, pending sales, and closed sales all declined in September, signaling less activity across the board. Median days on market stayed at 20 days, while the median sales price for a single family home in the Greater LA area came in at $925,000, which is basically flat from last month. So despite higher interest rates and slower activity, home prices are still holding steady, which basically suggests to me that despite selling a home being a little harder right now, Sellers are still staying pretty firm on their prices. My partner, Kyle, made a great comment about this recently in one of our team meetings. He said the market is hard, but it’s also fun because for the first time in a long time, it actually feels like we’re doing some profound work for our clients, especially for these buyers that we’re able to negotiate some amazing deals and I totally agree. Everyone wants a deal, but not everyone is willing to shop when there’s uncertainty and the market isn’t smooth sailing. So I’ll leave you with this question: If inflation continues rising and mortgage rates stay above 7%, how much longer do you think home prices can hold up? Are you in the camp that prices must come down? I’d love to know your thoughts and why so please share in the comments, and follow for more LA market updates. #losangelesrealestate #losangelesrealtor #housingmarketupdate #sereneteam #homeswithhoward DRE 02041897
