The fire broke out on July 16, 2024, at a timber factory in Yenişehir, a district of Bursa. Strong winds helped the flames spread, and emergency crews rushed to the scene. Amid the response, firefighters found a dog overcome by smoke. The animal had lost consciousness and needed immediate help. They brought it out of danger and began working beside it on the ground. They applied massage and used their breathing apparatus to supply clean air through a mask. Then the dog opened its eyes. Getting it out of the fire had been the first step. Now they needed to get it medical care. The firefighters cooled the dog with water, washed its face, and gave it something to drink once it regained consciousness. They then carried it into a fire vehicle and rushed it to a veterinarian with the sirens sounding. Footage from the rescue showed the black dog being held in a firefighter’s arms during the journey. Three days later, Bursa Municipality confirmed that the dog was doing well. The municipality also recognized the firefighters involved in saving it — Cemal Sezer, Şükrü Kibar, and Furkan Gümüşoluk. They were thanked for noticing the animal’s distress and continuing its care after the rescue. The dog had needed help at every stage. Someone to get it out of the smoke.
