But Hocus Pocus was only one chapter of his childhood career. He first became known for playing John Ross Ewing III on the hit television series Dallas. He later starred in the supernatural science-fiction series Eerie, Indiana, which developed a devoted cult following despite being canceled after just one season. Despite working alongside major Hollywood names, Katz eventually decided to walk away from acting in the early 2000s. He later explained that he wanted to explore the world and experience a more normal life after growing up in the entertainment industry. He spent time traveling, surfing, snowboarding, and following the Grateful Dead on tour. Eventually, he explored other careers, including working as a hairdresser and launching a legal cannabis business called The Mary Danksters. Although his Hollywood career faded, Hocus Pocus found a lasting audience through annual Halloween broadcasts, keeping his performance alive for generations of fans.
