![🚨Paul Scholes on Ayden Heaven’s handball for Manchester United against Roma: 🗣️ Paul Scholes: I’m sitting here watching this game, and honestly, it’s total chaos. Absolute chaos. I’m looking at that backline, and I’m shaking my head because I don’t understand what they’re doing. Ayden Heaven is young. He’s still learning, and starting a game of this magnitude is a big responsibility. You want to give young players confidence, but you also need to protect them and make sure the team around them is organised. In seventeen minutes, he’s made a mistake that has led to a goal, he’s lost his position, and now he’s given away a handball in the box. That’s a penalty. You couldn’t have asked for a worse start. But let’s be fair here. This isn’t just about Heaven. Where is the organisation? Where is the communication? Why does every Roma attack look like it could end in something dangerous? The entire defensive line looks disconnected. Nobody seems to know who should be covering who, and the players are making decisions that you simply cannot afford to make at this level. The team looks completely unfocused. There’s a serious lack of confidence, and you can see it in the way they’re moving, the way they’re defending and the way they’re reacting whenever Roma come forward. The fans are disgusted. And I don’t blame them. They’ve come to watch Manchester United, not a team that looks frightened every time the opposition gets near the penalty area. Seventeen minutes. That’s all it’s taken for this game to turn into a nightmare for Michael Carrick. And you have to ask yourself: what exactly has this team worked on defensively? You cannot keep making these mistakes and expect to compete with serious European sides. Roma don’t even need to do anything extraordinary. United are making life easy for them. And this is where the manager has to take responsibility. You pick the team, you prepare the players, you organise the defence. If the same problems keep appearing, you cannot keep pretending everything is fine. I feel sorry for Heaven because he’s a young player being thrown into a situation where the whole team looks unstable. But at Manchester United, mistakes have consequences, and the pressure isn’t going away. If this continues, I genuinely struggle to see how Carrick survives this. There has to be accountability somewhere. This club cannot keep accepting performances like this and calling it a process. Manchester United are supposed to make opponents uncomfortable. Tonight, Roma look comfortable, and United look like a team that has completely lost its way.
