Lorelai had it easy. Period. She relied on the kindness and generosity of others to get her through life. Mia, Luke, the Gilmores, all coddled her and spoiled her rotten into believing she's a capable independent woman when in fact she wasn't. She wasn't half as independent as she thought she was and talked a really big game.

What I like about the show is we all have our own personal antagonist and protagonists. There’s no real hero there’s no real villain it’s just a story about their lives.

I think people miss the point with Emily so much. It’s not about her wanting the best for Lorelai, it’s about her trying to make Lorelai fit into HER picture of what her life should look like. Instead of letting her be her own person, express herself and make her own choices, she was constantly trying to shape her into someone who fit her expectations. Supporting your child doesn’t mean controlling them with your authority or trying to break their character until they become who you want them to be. You can want the best for your child and still completely fail to understand who they actually are as a person

The way that the both handed the situation was wrong. Emily wasnt always the greatest but she did try to give Lorelei opportunities that she and Rory could have thrived in. But if you look at how things turned out Rory did end up not where she wanted career wise and getting pregnant with a married man. Rory and lorelei chose what was safe, Emily showed them there potential even when they didn't like it
