As a lawyer myself, I do think the future of legal will be 90% AI. As AI becomes more common place, it will democratize the access to legal counsel for everyone, making it way more accessible regardless of social or economic strata. For the case in point, the AI will only keep getting better especially when you have 300+ partners pouring in their expertise into the AI tools asides from everyone of course.

I took a jab at creating such a model for the SA market, caveat: I needed training data (case laws) , and got a strong warning from saflli, concort and lawlib to refrain from using any doc to train AI. 😳😁

I honestly think we’re heading towards a model where the AI itself is your lawyer. Especially for cases where I don’t necessarily need to be in court.

I like the point of training up junior lawyers so they’re also able to exercise professional judgement and advice on strategic insight. We can’t leave a whole generation behind, but ja…significant strides are made in this era of AI😅

Big red flag. Harvey are on the Application layer providing SaaS (Software as a Service). This means this do not own or run or own physical assets, which is great for the balance sheet but terrible as they are slaves to the supply chain. If AI firms fail to continue raise capital as they are still not making any profit. They have terrible balance sheets. Based on this id take an educated guess and say they have signed long term contracts with crazy clauses.

The partners of the future know how to couple their legal knowledge and AI. Building and running agents in Harvey etc. takes time and associates will come in handy for this because partners have to also manage client relationships.
