A convicted murderer isn't being welcomed back into society with open arms after getting paroled. On August 1, 1990, the bodies of 15-year-old Cynthia Lewis and 1-year-old Curtis Rizzo were found in a field behind a middle school in Wayne County, New York. Lewis was stabbed 44 times and Rizzo six times. Police would arrest 14-year-old Chad Campbell for the murder. He was found guilty and sentenced to 18 years-to-life in prison. In 2014, during his initial parole hearing, he admitted to the rape and murder of Lewis and claimed he killed Rizzo because the boy was crying. After multiple parole hearings, Campbell was granted his release in November 2025. However, he's finding communities throughout New York unwilling to accept him as their neighbor. Campbell was initially set to return to Wayne County upon his release and was set to stay at a local motel. However, after much backlash from the Wayne County community, the hotel reneged. Campbell’s original post-release housing plan was in Brooklyn, but that placement was also denied. According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Campbell will now be released in Erie County... but officials there have also reportedly expressed concerns about the placement, as well. #truecrime #murder
