It has literally 0 implications, taxes are only an issue if YOU MOVE THERE. If you’re just passing by you DO NOT have to pay taxes in other countries. They’re just mad because they’re not remote and have to be at the miserable office.

Honestly, if I was ever a remote worker, I’d never ever let anybody know where I’m working from

Go down to Keys. You get the tropical weather and still technically the US.

This is a big issue, actually. Don't care about the weather or what you do after hours, but i do care if your internet is going through a foreign country that could monitor and capture traffic to corporate system data

The tax implications alone are a nightmare, let alone the HR issues it causes.

It’s a tax, visa, privacy, compliance, & legal issue, not an HR wants to control you issue.

It’s possible that being out of the country could be a problem. Possibly. But assuming you’re staying in country, remote is remote. Period. I could go visit relatives in Florida for Christmas, but be working the whole time. It should make absolutely zero difference where I’m sitting.

My wife works from home and even though her company is questionable in some regards they don’t care if you work out of country as long as you have the right internet speed and a secure room to work from (she uses a spare room that we installed a lock on the door

Yeah. When you leave the country you are no longer on the US internet for one. And you are working which does require a work Visa in most countries. And then we have tax issues. Yeah, you're done.

This is an actual issue though. If the example was he was in a different state, it might be a different discussion, even though there are still tax implications. But working for a company in a different country is not right. The company would have liabilities.
