@mothershipsg: Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu said NEA's investigations so far suggest that some of the haze affecting Singapore originated from fires on land belonging to 7 companies in Indonesia. They are: - PT Bumi Andalas Permai; - PT Bumi Mekar Hijau; - PT Paramitra Mulia Langgeng; - PT Sumatera Alam Anugerah; - PT SBA Wood Industries; - PT Hutan Lestari Raya; - PT Bangkanesia. She was speaking at an Oct. 16 press conference on the haze situation in Singapore. The companies were identified in connection with the haze episodes on Oct. 8 and 9 and are located in Sumatra, Indonesia. Under Singapore's Transboundary Haze Pollution Act (THPA), the National Environment Agency (NEA) will issue preventive measure notices requiring the companies to extinguish fires, prevent them from spreading and stop burning activities on their land. The companies will also be required to submit action plans detailing how they intend to put out the fires and prevent them from recurring.
