He flipped on his lights and stopped the car on Parks Road. He approached the driver, Cristina Jasso-Olvera. Right away, alcohol smell hit him. He spotted clear signs she was impaired. She couldn't show a valid license. Later checks showed it was suspended. More officers pulled up. They told her to step out. She owned up to drinks at a bar that night. Said she headed to a friend's place. They suspected drunk driving. Asked her for field sobriety tests. She flat-out refused. They arrested her for DUI. A quick car search found an open Twisted Tea. Patrolman Tumer stayed until they towed the car for a 12-hour hold under John's Law. They took Cristina to Netcong State Police barracks for a breath test. There, they read her the standard statement for drivers. She agreed to give samples at first. Trooper Rosenberger ran the Alcotest. But after eight tries, she wouldn't blow right. They charged her with refusal. Officers drove her back to Roxbury Township Police. Then they took her to her friend's house. Released her once the friend signed the liability warning for her. Patrolman Keyes handed out tickets: DUI, refusal to test, breath sample consent, reckless driving, lane markings violation, no license, and driving on a suspended one.
