Once you realize you are dealing with a psychopath carefully find a way to get out of their influence as smoothly as possible, with no confrontation, altercation or drama and stay away from them, completely disengage and move on with your life. You can't get anything meaningful from this person. This is a predator with no empathy or compassion to give anyone. This is the best way to protect yourself.

Good gracious, my ex literally told me I deserved what I got, the cheating, the lying, etc., because I was so naive. He actually mocked me for wanting to be loved. This is oddly comforting to understand now.

if you are preyed upon, its because the heart desperate and unguarded! be kind, not open, be transparent and honest, but not open to connection until you see healthy consistent patterns! usually these kinds of personalities are hypersexual (you must have self control, standards, and boundaries that are heavily implemented and followed) many are patient but many will also seek other attention through other means, be on guard and never accept someone having options when you're courting!
