@nemauganda: NEMA cracks down on Lumpewo wetland degradation in Kajansi. Following NEMA ED’s Dr. Barirega Ankankwasah's onsite inspection visit in May, 2026, a joint team of NEMA EPF, EPPU, and Ministry of Water and Environment have today conducted a restoration exercise in Lumpewo wetland in Kajansi, Wakiso district after restoration orders issued to the degrader expired. Any person who encroaches on a wetland commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding 30,000 currency points or imprisonment not exceeding 12 years, or both.
