A marriage is not a business transaction where, once things fail, everyone demands a refund. What about the years she spent in that marriage? The sacrifices, the emotional labour, raising children, supporting her partner and everything else she contributed to building that home? If her parents received the dowry, why should she automatically carry the burden of returning it? Marriage involves two people investing their time, money, energy and lives. If it ends, why are we focusing on recovering dowry instead of looking at everything both parties contributed? A woman is not a product you return when the relationship fails.
