Aquarius does have many flaws but she's known lucy the longest so she KNOWS how strong lucy is and she is also aware of how the spirits view her after saving loke. She knows how lucy fights and how fiercely protective she is of her spirits so she obviously knows she'll be fine. Yes she could've died but I truly believe that if she thought lucy really was going to die she would've stayed to help (as shown in later seasons). This isn't meant as hate or anything, honestly just my opinion.
