@flower.theatre: Stage door is a privilage not a right. I am a broken record at this point (mostly bc I filmed these videos in a big batch and haven't edited any more lol) but Still, so many people don't seem to be getting it. Buying a ticket to see a show does not mean you are entitled to anything at stage door. actually expecting anything at stage door just makes you entitled. theatre "fans" could do with remembering this more often. #stagedoor #flowertheatre #musicaltheatre #theatrefan #musicals
I've only recently tried to stage door anywhere and I've been VERY aware of all the weirdness that goes on. The one thing that has shocked me is when security have come out and said "no one is coming out today" The amount of people who have turned to me and gone "they're lying, just wait" Absolutely not 😱😱😱

One of my favourite performers was a swing in the Book of Mormon, a swing in greatest showman and then ensemble/ cover hades in Hercules. There was this other fan who was absolutely obsessed with him, she befriended a lot of front of house staff at theatres and everyone he was on stage in Book of Mormon, her friend in front of house would tip her off and, she would turn up at stage door after the show (having not seen the show , the same used to happen at Hercules when he was covering hades. And when he was in the greatest showman and was on stage , she would be in the audience, bear in mind that the show was a total sellout, she was getting last minute tickets .. we came to the conclusion that he was actually giving her comp tickets

stage door is a privillege, not a right. as enjoyable as it can be. coming from someone who does stage door often, the actors' wellbeing comes first for me. if they do stage door and interact with me, YAY! if not, absolutely fine. go home and rest babe!

Stage door is not only a privilege but it’s also not somewhere for you to go when you haven’t been at the show, I’ve seen a few instances of people semi regularly travelling to theatres JUST to see their fave performer, not going to the show, and it’s a few instances too many. Knowing where someone will be or likely be at a given time is not an invite to go to that place just to try and catch them 😭

Agreee!!! I think a good idea would have signed copies of the programs inside especially when big stars are in the show like Leslie for Hamilton.

I was literally talking to someone about this at Heathers in Leicester a few weeks ago and they agreed (we used Amber Davies and Hannah Lowther for Legally Blonde as an example)

Ended up stage dooring Jesus Christ Superstar, and we cheered for everyone who left the building, not just Sam Ryder.

me and my friends will wait for certain people, and if they come to say hello then great, but if they need to get off, then that's ok. they might have a train to catch or meeting family! I wish everyone understood that

when it’s a one person show . They don’t do stage door if they don’t have understudy to ensure they don’t get ill so the show can go on . It annoys me when some fans moan about it .

Worst day is any day with a matternay people except cast to come out between shows. But they don’t understand how little time there actually is between shows back stage. Between getting food, actually getting a break, stage resets, show notes, everything else..

I think there need to be more ways for people to show their appreciation for performers as stage door is getting so problematic

I was at Hadestown one Saturday with a friend.. during Nicola Robert’s run in the show , this particular day Nicola wasn’t on .. we were first out of the theatre went to stage door and they’re were already two people waiting there, I commented to my friend “gosh they got out quick “my friend nudged me and said look ..they had loads of Nicola Robert’s books , albums etc but no Hadestown programme , after waiting there about ten minutes they turned to me and my friend and said does Nicola normally come out after a matinee ? I said I was here last Saturday for both shows and she didn’t come out after either. Then my friend said “ of course if you had actually been at the show today then you would have known that Nicola isn’t on today. They made a very swift exit. Then another occasion me and another friend got to stage door and they’re were a whole big group of girls there , they says to me and my friend that we could go ahead of them as they were only there to see Nicola , they weren’t interested in seeing the other cast members … my friend said you obviously haven’t been at the show because you would have known that Nicola wasn’t on today , they didn’t revive us and actually went round and checked the cast board , loads of other people kept coming up and saying has Nicola come out yet.

I know how stage door works I just wait until Joe Mcelderry comes out but I've been in situations where he didn't come out in Cardiff on the first night of Joseph Tour Show in Cardiff last year and I had to wait until he came out at Milton Keynes after the Joseph Tour Show in Milton Keynes and he did it's his choice to come out of stage door after panto or not or after his own shows and the only time he doesn't come out is after his Christmas Show in Newcastle I do VIP meet and greet with Joe Mcelderry but he does come out because he likes to it's free to do and it's not like a meet and greet it's not totally different

There needs to be more events like Musical Con so that performers can choose to meet fans at these events and are protected incase they have a bad experience

people need to grow up. I went to paddington yesterday and was hoping to see this one performer who im a fan of at stage door, and he did infact come out but I couldnt beat the large crowd of people to speak to him so sadly he went back inside. and dont get me wrong i was gutted yk, he was RIGHT THERE but then I remembered I just had the most amazing time watching him in the show and thats the most important thing. watching a show is NOT a ticket for a meet and greet lordy lord
