@ink_junkie83: I recently found out I have a large uterine tumor and am scheduled for a hysterectomy in two weeks. Iโm nervous and would love to hear your experiences! How long was your recovery? What helped the most? What do you wish youโd known beforehand? Any tips, advice, or words of encouragement would mean so much! ๐ฉท #surgery #hysterectomy #fyp #support #HelpNeeded

Gas-X, stool softener, 7up for stomach aches, pain meds, belly binder (asked for one at hospital), hysterectomy pillow, weighted heating pad - things that helped me a lot

Take your pain pills. Set an alarm to keep it in your system for the first few days. Stay ahead of the pain. I slept in the recliner bc it was easier to get up. Heating pad. Big cup of my fav drink. A variety of snacks within reach. But at the same time get up and move gently. Take your time. Donโt rush to say you feel great bc it takes time to heal all that. Be kind to yourself. If you need to talk, shoot me a message. Good luck and sending prayers for you, your surgical team, and your caretakers.

I think it depends on the type incision . 5 days post op. Feeling much better today than before. Stay on time w pain meds. Itโs helps me move arounds without being too much in pain. Everyone heals differently. Donโt rush recovery. Ask for help when you need it. Sleeping in a recliner helps me a lot. I couldnโt sleep in the bed.

Start the stool softener a couple days before surgery, walking will save you when it comes to gas pain, I am not a back sleeper at all ! Only a couple days into recovery i ordered a wedge and thatโs has helped a lot.

Iโm 19 days post-opโฆ do it! If itโs done via laparoscopy, the healing isnโt bad at all.

19 days post op. I loved having the wedge pillow, heating pad and belly binder (helped me sleep on my side without feeling like my insides were falling out ๐) Recovery for me was much easier than I thought. Make sure you are very hydrated the week of surgery, eat well so you can poop easily after surgery and meal prep healthy foods. Not painful but, healing is a long process and be patient. You got this!!!!! Good luck and happy healing โค๏ธ

I had a softball sized tumor and Iโm just over 16 weeks post op. After a hysteroscopy, we still didnโt know what it was. My best friend had a hysterectomy a few years ago, and I asked her some questions, but generally, I knew nothing going in and to be honest, Iโm so glad I didnโt. Being on hysterectomy tiktok before surgery would have made my anxiety sky rocket. Everyoneโs experience is so different and everyone has different post op preferences. What works for some would not have worked for me and Iโm sure that goes both ways. No matter what, youโre going to do great!

You will feel good quickly but do not over do it. I felt back to normal with in a few days. I was up baking Christmas cookies with zero issues 5 days post op. I just couldnโt lift anything heavy.

Good support and loving family and friends. Donโt compare your recovery to anyone elseโs, weโre all different. Be patient and be kind to yourself. I had mine begin ing of August and the physical healing was the easy part. I had everything taken. If youโre going g to have ovaries removed find a good Dr who listens to you and supports you because the HRT journey is a long one. I cannot emphasize this part enough. Prayerfully it wonโt be this hard for you, but if it is, remember be kind to yourself.

Iโm 4 years post op (laparoscopic as well ) these ladies are all so right. The gas pains are the worst part , so use a heating pad. But FYI, best decision ever! Oh donโt try to be a hero and โso toughโ ,, enjoy your time off and recover!!! No lifting!!!!!
