Recently, I shared an Instagram story to raise awareness after hearing allegations about another halal music provider taking brides’ money and not sending them the playlists they had paid for. Sadly, this wasn’t the first time I’d heard of something like this, which is why I felt it was important to warn other sisters. I made sure to completely hide the names and identities of everyone who shared their experiences with me, including this DJ, because my intention was never to expose, target or embarrass anyone. My only intention was to raise awareness and warn other sisters, as I didn’t want anyone else to be taken advantage of or lose their hard-earned money. When I was asked to delete the post, I respectfully explained my intentions and made it clear that I stood by my decision to raise awareness. However, simply for refusing to take down MY own post, which did not mention her name or reveal her identity in any way, I was met with threats, bullying and disrespect. Even when I tried to address the situation privately and respectfully, I was met with further hostility instead of a mature conversation. Since then, I’ve also received messages from other brides and sisters sharing their own upsetting experiences with her. Out of respect for their privacy, I will not be sharing those conversations. However, what I will share is this same DJ purchased my full Somali playlist back in August 2025 and has since purchased many individual songs from me. Yet, some brides she referred to me, especially those booking last minute, were still being sent to purchase that exact same playlist. This made me question whether she was picking and choosing which brides received the playlist she already owned, while leaving others stressed and scrambling to buy it themselves. I can’t speak for what she tells her brides, but these situations raised concerns for me. Despite this, I never publicly questioned her or exposed her purchases. I was also sent a comment from a TikTok video, by someone who gave me permission to share it, to raise awareness about this DJ. I believe these concerns deserve to be heard and taken seriously. Please be careful, sisters. Book DJ Fadumo at your own risk. #somalitiktok #somalidj #djfadumo #somalifemaledj #fyp
