Hot take. They did this on purpose to show that in the real world a lot of people dont have good reasons to do the things they do. Not everyone is a perfect villain, this entire show is about teaching perspective. But by recognizing that even though they over reacted, you shouldnt shame them for it and just try to help them change.

Nah true cus like starlight ain't no way you carried that to adulthood, and mind you few episodes later we see that she had a loving dad so it wasn't even a parents problem. There were literally other ponies in that town too like just be friends with them?? she's good enough to do magic so she could've gone there too... idk why she didn't. Literally sunburst couldn't even perform well 😭
