@the_gist_plug: 10 Years On: Remembering Confidence K. Baah, the Kumasi Journalist Who Died Too Soon at 36 Ten years may have passed, but the memory of Confidence Eric Kwadwo Baah remains a painful reminder of how suddenly life can change. On October 16, 2016, the Kumasi media fraternity was thrown into mourning following reports that the popular Kessben FM/TV journalist had died after a short illness. His death came as a shock to colleagues, listeners and admirers, particularly because he had reportedly hosted a programme the previous day. But on that Sunday morning, the voice many had become familiar with was suddenly silent. Reports at the time indicated that Confidence was found motionless and lying face down in bed by his aunt. He was subsequently rushed to Effiduasi Government Hospital in the Ashanti Region, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The circumstances surrounding his death generated questions and varying accounts, especially given reports that he had been on air the previous day. A post-mortem examination reportedly attributed his death to asphyxia caused by food particles. Initial police inquiries also led to the questioning of his girlfriend or fiancée, who was briefly arrested and later granted bail. Those early inquiries formed part of the questions surrounding the tragedy, but the loss of the young journalist remained the central pain for his family, friends and colleagues. #fyi #trending
