So many revolutionists, no one actually revolting. People often speak of revolt from extremely safe spaces while waiting for POC bodies to do something.

You can't change the system overnight either. You certainly can't change it on TikTok or without a plan.

for all the liberals who constantly ask "wHat'S tHE pLaN?!"... you're going to have to build community. read some books on socialism (NOT DSA), communist and anarchist. do you think the people who participated in past revolutions had a step by step walk in plan? no, it was born out of desperation. ALSO every "position" within a revolution is NOT just combat. it's an inevitable end. prepare now and find your spot in the work that needs to be done.

Sigh. There has never been a successful uprising against the US government. The closer we came, the higher the body count. When I see people advocating for that path it is almost always someone who knows nothing about fighting and often likely from a group unlikely to feel the effects first. I get the sentiment but I lose respect for people who advocate for it when any path has even a chance.

YES. The thing is, this exact mindset (that voting in federal elections doesn’t work) got us the result we got in 2016 and *waved arms* HERE WE ARE. How did it work out?? Have we ended the white nationalist fascist system? NO??? WOW. It’s almost like it’s a lot easier to effect change when you aren’t also fighting for YOUR LIVES

people really don't understand what it takes mentally to be able to participate in extreme violence. most these tiktok revolutionaries haven't even been in a fisr fight.

is voting going to fix everything? no. but voting right now is a lot like getting vaccinated. it doesn't guarantee that I won't get COVID or the flu or other terrible diseases, but it does make it much less likely that I will suffer a terrible version of that sickness. I still need to eat well, wash my hands, and mask when necessary, but voting right now is a basic safety precaution.

thanks for this perspective…how would you describe a post societal collapse environment? I’m thinking it’s more than just a coup? I’m also curious if you have case study recs of communities who rebuilt in these types of environments that we can learn from?

Even if voting serves NO other purpose than creating a paper trail that we can later point to and say "these stats dont line up," people need to still vote.

They’re defeatist. They say there’s nothing we can do and it’s just how it is. Then give up. Call it a wrap then if you’re not willing to even do anything as EASY as just voting.

The biggest takeaway people are losing from this discussion is, in order to address the problems we face we cannot rely on an institution that doesn’t serve the needs of the working class. The act of voting is one of many political responsibilities we have to build our own political power because electoralism has not lead to outcomes that benefit us, therefore, we must organize outside of that sphere to have our voices heard. This could be labor, tenant, or mutual aid organizations.

I agree with a lot of the things you just said, but where I have to disagree is what you said about the bill of rips the bill of rights were written by a bunch of colonial slaveowning bastards, who did not see people of color as people in who saw Native Americans as people to be exterminated. Now everything else she said was spot on, and we can most definitely change a lot of things in this colonial project because it has to start from the bottom up if we can get politicians who actually care about us at the local level, we can push for it out of the state level and then the federal level. I don’t agree with what she Said.
