Full of shit. 1. Paxton’s office controlled the prosecution. His prosecutors offered Adam Hoffman a plea agreement reducing serious child sexual abuse charges to misdemeanors. 2. The original offer was effectively one day in jail. A judge rejected the initial arrangement and ultimately imposed 60 days. Hoffman served approximately 29 days and avoided sex-offender registration. 3. There is a documented connection to Paxton’s circle. Hoffman’s defense attorney, Gerry Morris, also represented Nate Paul, a close friend and political donor of Paxton who was central to his impeachment controversy. 4. The defense attorney denies Paxton’s involvement. Morris says he never communicated with Paxton about the case and that the connection to Nate Paul had nothing to do with the plea agreement. 5. Prosecutors offered an explanation. The first trial ended with a hung jury, and the child did not want to testify again. Prosecutors say they accepted the reduced charges to avoid forcing the child through another trial. 6. Political and personal connections to Paxton. Hoffman’s defense attorney, Gerry Morris, also represented Nate Paul, a close friend and political donor of Ken Paxton. Whether Morris himself donated to Paxton’s campaigns has not been verified.
