Johnny rotten :
To follow Jesus, Paul gave up his prominent identity as a Pharisee, high social standing, comfortable life, wealth, friends, and security, which he considered "loss for the sake of Christ". He willingly sacrificed his religious and social advantages to gain the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus, ultimately counting his former life as worthless in comparison to Christ. Paul was a respected Pharisee with a blameless reputation under Jewish law, a Hebrew of Hebrews, and came from a privileged background. He gave up this esteemed position. Paul relinquished his wealth and comfort. He was willing to give up his friendships and face alienation from family. : He gave up personal security, facing danger, persecution, and hardship, including beatings and relocations. Ultimately, he was willing to give up his very life, as he understood the commitment to mean a constant state of risk for the sake of the gospel. So what was Paul’s agenda? It looks like Paul’s agenda was to follow what Jesus told him to do.
