I’ve seen the same thing that basically says the more chaotic you load your machine, as long as you don’t inhibit the way the water flows, depending on the type of machine you have, the better it cleans… specially with regards to silverware. These days, most silverware seems to be loading in a special drawer at the very top on the side.

up, but it doesnt matter, there are holes at te botum of the basket so the dirt will pass though there

I have a basket on top so my spoon an knives lay down. More place for cups and plates .

handles down is not the correct way. if you go handles down, then the elongated thin handle falls down into the plastic mesh/holes that the holder is made off
