@yellowzebrasafaris: Africa has just SO much choice! Choosing Africa's best lodges is impossible, and I'll say that upfront. Botswana is where I'd go tomorrow due to its exclusivity and the sheer beauty of its habitat, whilst Zimbabwe and Zambia are where I'd recommend for the best value all round safari. But the "best" game viewing can't honestly be ranked; I've found extraordinary wildlife everywhere, often where you'd least expect it. Value is just as slippery - the most expensive lodges can earn it through the ecosystems they protect, while a simple camp has often served the best food I've eaten all year. And some of the people who've impressed me most are the one-man-band conservationists in tiny parks, with no money at all, holding their piece of Africa together through sheer will. We need them all. So this is 25 years of experience squashed into 30 seconds. It's personal, it's selective, and it won't please everyone. Take it as a bit of fun - one person's honest view, nothing more definitive than that. I should finally also declare my hand.
