DECOY STING AND RAPID RECIDIVISM An investigation involving Police Scotland established that Raeburn targeted a profile named "Cameron Scott" across Skype and WhatsApp. The account was actually a decoy sting operated by the online group Wolf Pack Hunters UK. Prosecutors detailed that Raeburn sent graphic images of his genitalia and actively discussed engaging in "full sex" with the fictitious minor. The digital forensic audit revealed a highly concerning pattern of behavior. Raeburn had initiated this predatory grooming campaign mere weeks after being released from prison for a previous 2017 conviction involving hundreds of child abuse images and extreme videos. Despite having just finished serving a custodial sentence for possessing illicit material, he immediately returned to active online grooming upon his release. EDINBURGH SHERIFF COURT SENTENCING At his sentencing hearing, Sheriff Michael O’Grady QC branded the offenses exceptionally serious and concerning. The court highlighted that Raeburn had previously attempted to delete files to obstruct justice during his first arrest, though forensic experts successfully recovered the media. For his actions, Raeburn was sentenced to 20 months in prison, paired with a mandatory 12-month extended supervision order upon release. The court also ordered his inclusion on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
