A little context for anyone watching! First off, huge respect to both AWE and Thermal R&D. Two American manufacturers building some of the best exhaust systems on the market. IMPORTANT DETAIL: My Explorer with the Thermal R&D exhaust has aftermarket CVF downpipes, while the Explorer running AWE has factory downpipes. So this isn’t a perfect apples to apples comparison, and that can absolutely influence the sound. After hearing them back to back in person, I was genuinely surprised by how close they were. Both sound great, just with their own characteristics. One thing I noticed was the difference in that subtle turbo whistle I’ve always loved hearing. I’ve seen people discussing it online, so I’m especially curious what everyone else hears. I’m not here to declare a winner. I want to hear YOUR opinions, especially from owners who’ve experienced both setups. And if you’re running AWE with aftermarket downpipes, I’d love to hear how that changed your sound!
