After hearing Maresca’s name, Alonso defended Chelsea’s captain, praising his commitment, influence and the respect he commands in the dressing room. 🗣️ Xabi Alonso: “He is so proud to play for this club. He’s played many years, so to take that responsibility as captain in a very natural way in terms of leadership, he’s so respected by his teammates and he has support from the other ones.” Maresca questioned the leadership expected from Reece during his injury, but Alonso’s response highlighted the respect and natural leadership he believes the captain already brings to Chelsea. 💙
