In NJ this is considered leaving a child on the bus. The driver is required to pull over after each run and walk the bus to look for students.

I had just pulled into my spot and was getting out of my seat to do my final check when a kid popped up next to me. I jumped so hard. I had asked at the end of my route if anyone was left on the bus (I do it at the end of every route) I asked him why he didn’t say anything when I asked if anyone was left and he shrugged his shoulders. His parents came and got him

My memory doesn't suck but autopilot kicks in instantly so I have no fucking clue where I am or what's going on and when I come too and realize that I'm driving 55 mph down a road that I can't identify until I look behind me and see which load of kids is on the bus... so much fun

When my aunt was a kid she didn’t come home and when they finally found her hours later she was sleeping on the bus back at the yard.

The amount of people who have been saying “this happened to me” is very concerning….in all seriousness, there is a sleeping child alarm that must be turned off from the rear of the bus before the bus can be turned off so this actually doesn’t happen
