@techserks: and choosing the wrong one can make AI feel way less useful than it actually is. OpenAI is increasingly splitting the experience into three different ways of working with AI: ChatGPT for thinking and conversation, ChatGPT Work for completing larger multi-step tasks, and Codex for building and changing software. Once you understand the difference, it becomes much easier to know which one to reach for. 👇 💬 ChatGPT = Ask. Explore. Create. This is still the best starting point for everyday AI use. Think questions, explanations, learning, brainstorming, writing, summarising, decision-making, idea generation, planning and quick research. You stay in the conversation, steer the direction, refine the answer and keep iterating until you get what you need. If your task sounds like: “Explain this,” “Give me ideas,” “Rewrite this,” “Help me understand this,” or “What should I do?” — ChatGPT is usually where I’d start. ⚡ 💼 ChatGPT Work = Plan. Research. Deliver. This is where things get much more interesting. Instead of simply helping you think through a task, Work is designed to carry substantial work through from beginning to end. It can work across files, research, documents, apps and tools, handle multiple steps, and produce actual deliverables such as reports, documents, presentations, spreadsheets, analysis and other finished outputs. So instead of asking: “Tell me how I could research my competitors…” You can give Work the objective, relevant files and context and have it actually research, analyse, organise and produce the deliverable. That distinction is huge. 🤯 For creators, analysts, founders, researchers, marketers and business users, this could become one of the most important parts of ChatGPT. 👨💻 Codex = Build. Debug. Test. Ship. Codex is much more specialised. It is OpenAI’s coding-focused agent designed to work directly with software projects. It can understand codebases, read and edit files, implement features, debug problems, run commands and tests, review changes and help move development work forward. So if the job is: 🧩 Build a feature 🐛 Fix a bug 🧪 Run or improve tests 📂 Understand a repository 🔧 Refactor code 🔍 Review code changes 🚀 Help ship software …Codex is the more purpose-built environment. But remember: AI-generated code still needs human review and testing. Codex can massively accelerate development, but it shouldn’t remove engineering judgement from the process. 🔥 And here’s the part people often miss: You don’t necessarily choose ONE of these forever. A powerful workflow could look like this: 💬 ChatGPT → brainstorm the idea and clarify requirements 💼 ChatGPT Work → research it, organise the project, analyse information and build supporting deliverables 👨💻 Codex → implement the technical parts, test them and iterate on the code That’s where OpenAI’s ecosystem starts becoming much more than “a chatbot.” It becomes a workflow. ⚙️ My simplest way to remember it: 🟢 ChatGPT = THINK 🔵 ChatGPT Work = EXECUTE 🟠 Codex = BUILD Of course there is overlap between all three, and ChatGPT itself can absolutely help with coding, research and files. The difference is mainly how deeply each experience is designed around that kind of work. So which one would YOU actually use most right now? 👀 Comment CHATGPT, WORK, or CODEX below and tell me what you’d use it for. 👇 📌 SAVE this carousel because OpenAI’s product ecosystem is moving quickly and understanding these distinctions will matter more and more. 📤 SHARE it with someone who still thinks ChatGPT is only a chatbot. ➕ FOLLOW TechSerks for practical AI breakdowns, comparisons, tutorials and emerging technology explained without the hype. 🤖🔥 #TechSerks #ChatGPT #ChatGPTWork #Codex #OpenAI
